COLLECTING MANGROVE SEEDLING

Approximately 10-12 propagule of Red Mangrove was collected at the seashore of pantai pasir panjang.

Propagule are placed in temporary container with saltwater and sand

For starting, the propagule divided to 2 medium: saltwater ,with sand and freshwater, no substrate

after 1 week, the propagule have black dots (indicating starting germination of roots)

we divided them to four type of medium;
a)saltwater, no substrate
b)saltwater , sand substrate
c)saltwater , shell substrate
d)saltwater, coco fiber substrate

most propagule in medium (a) have germinate root

but in other medium we notice that there are a lot of purple-like fungus dominated the propagule

after some reading, we concluded that maybe the propagule is under stress
-
we take out the infected propagule to new medium (medium e)

now there are five type of medium;
a)saltwater, no substrate
b)saltwater , sand substrate
c)saltwater , shell substrate
d)saltwater, coco fiber substrate
e)freshwater, no substrate
